I want people to join a group when they register.
Is there a step by step to putting a group jive category/group window in the registration form via "field management?"

I have an inkling but need the particulars.

So how can a user not only fill out the registration data but also choose a group they want to be a part of.

After all, its the joining of a group that is an inducement to registering.
